Using One Brand of Seamers in a Plant? - BobGill - 13-09-2014 03:46 AM

I've always liked the idea of using the same seamer brand in a plant, be it all Angelus, CMB machines, etc. Seamer mechanics are all trained on the one type, though you may have different models, and expertise is gained easily after a while. Easy too to work out the essential spares that have been estimated over years of use.

The last company I worked for used all Angelus machinery, but contemplated getting a new Ferrum seamer which the company had heard good things about. My reaction was that it would mean a new learning curve for all seamer mechanics and I much preferred to stick with Angelus machinery.

Have others preferred to stick with the same seamer brand in their plant, or have they opted to try something new? I would be interested to know their results.

Hallo Bob, we are in the process to purchasing a Ferrum seamer which will be installed early next year. Our team will be going through to Ferrum to do the buy-off. This seamer will be used on out catering packs. I went over in January to go and look at the seamer and is quite impressed with it's performance. Will keep you updated.
